Mint Leaves may repel some kinds of ants and not others. Excellent
experiment to try. You can start by getting some ants from your house,
probably Argentine ants [imported to the U.S. years ago and a real pest
now] and then getting other ants from the yard [best to ask a local
entomologist to help you]. You can put mint leaves in with them in a jar
separately [many ants fight when placed together] and see if they avoid
the leaves or not.
Because of your age, this is the best place to start your experiments. If
you run into problems, let me know and I will help you.
