The drugs and other materials like heavy metals and explosives are 
extracted from hair bulbs by complexing agents. This extract in organic 
phase is submited to HPLC and  MS analysis to verify the amounts of these  
substances.

The sensitivity is near pg (pico gram) of certain drugs, and I know that a 
new apprach for this kind of analysis based  on the reserch of metabolites 
from human body fluids and hair .
