check out:

-Ashbaugh, David R. Quantitative-Qualitative Friction Ridge Analysis, CRC 
Press, New York, NY, 1999, "Genetics and Uniqueness", pp. 183-191.

-Olsen, Robert D. Scott's Fingerprint Mechanics, Charles C. Thomas, 
Springfield, Illinois, 1978.

-The International Association of Identification web site at 
www.theiai.org which apparently will conduct a query for you for free.
