One of my students asked that question during a lesson on sex-linked traits and sex chromosome disorders (Klinefelters' syndrome and Turner's syndrome). My first thought was that the second "X" chromosome might be non-functional and, therefore, not confer any protection from sex-linked disorders such as hemophilia, color-blindness, etc. but I'm hoping someone can confirm or deny that theory. I thought it was a great question and wish I could've given him an immediate (and accurate) answer!
