1.  Why do features which were originally an advantage disappear when retaining
them would seemingly not confer any disadvantage which led to elimination of the
animals which retained the original form?  For example, why would fully winged
Dodos be selected out?  Plenty of reluctant flying birds retain their wings?
2.  Compared with horns the antlers of deer are wasteful of energy and 
inconvenient. 
Why have they persisted?
