To supply a pulse of this power, a capacitor of at least 22,000 
microfarads would be required. 
This is a rather big capacitor - probably about the size of a coke can. 
One problem with using a capacitor this size for intermittent applications 
like this is that a cap of this size will have significant leakage 
current, causing battery drain when not in use.

As regards batteries, Alkaline, NiCd or NimH cells of AA size or above 
should be able to supply this current quite easily. Your idea of using 
remote control car packs should work fine.
