I understand that irradiation is used to increase the shelf life of fruits and
vegetables by killing the bacteria that is in them. It appears that meat can
become contaminated with e. coli and salmonella. Would irradiation be able to
kill the bacteria in meat, or are there some toher unwanted side effects such
as tough meat??
