Hi Rufus,
Here's what I found out about custodial care.

Custodial care is the care of bedridden patients who require nurses around 
the clock. The nurses perform daily living services in addition to their 
nursing services. Thus if nursing care includes bathing and feeding the 
patient, as well as taking the vital signs, and administering medications,  
the nurse is performing "custodial care".
