Most modern discoveries of new elements are done by teams of researchers rather 
than individuals.  For Seaborgium-106, the following reference reviews the 
discovery.

But, per the following reference, Unnilhexium (just the technical name for 
Element 106 - name used until the element is named) may still be just Element 
106 as there was concern about naming the element after a living person.
