first of all, the "living cell" is the unit building block of all higher
organisms. each living creature is made up of many thousands to billions
of these units. there are many cell types in higher (more complex)
organisms - depending on how complex the creature is, the different cells
have different roles to play.
eg, in animals, nerve cells are different from blood cells which are
different from cells in the skin. similarly in plants, the leaf cells are
different from the pollen cells which are different from the root cells.
the major difference in animal & plant cells is that plant cells are
generally rigid & have fixed shapes, eg., circular, hexagonal, elongated
etc. animal cells generally have no rigidity, though some types do have
fixed shapes.
plant cells are rigid as that gives mechanical strength to the tissue.
there is no such function where animal cells are concerned.
hope this answers your doubt.
