Subject: How does Stealth technology work

I have searched vigorously through encyclopedias and the web, but I have been 
unable to find any imformation explaining how stealth aircrafts came to be 
invented and how exactly they work. I am interested in attempting to build a 
model stealth aircraft / demonstration for a grade 13 physics project and I was 
wondering if this is achievable with mirrors and and lasers. What other 
materials might be neccesary in accomplishing this task.
