In one word the answer would be yes. But there is more to the story.
Sterile bile is full of many chemicals. They can casue what is termed 
chemical peritonitis. That is a general inflammation of the lining of the 
abdominal cavity but not necesasrily as dangerous as the other entity.
But if the bile was colonized with bacteria then the peritoneal cavity 
would get infected with bacteria and cause a bacterial pritonitis which 
can be life threatening.
