Hi there, Seahorses belong to a fish family called Syngnathidae. This also includes Pipefish and Trumpet fish. This family is one of many familes of ray finned fish (bony rays in the fins). Most fish belong to this group, except Sharks, Rays and Coelocanths. They occur in the Indian, Pacific and Atlantic oceans and generally hang around shallow, protected water. Trumpet fish are generally more coral reef dwellers, pipefish and seadragons and sea horses all hang out in areas with lots of structure. Seahorses are weak swimmers and are really happy when they can curl their tails around something and wait for small prey items to swim past them. Little swimming crustaceans like amphipods are a fav food! Try a websearch for more detailed information about this fish family. cheers, Alastair
