I think the Earth would be a white ball seen from space. At the tops of the
clouds, no matter how dirty and dusty they were there would be conditions
corresponding to freezing and the water vapor would form white clouds
there. Any soot in the air would fall to the ground - sooner or later.
Volcanic clouds from huge eruptions, such as Mount Pinatubo in 1991, tend
to be white seen from space.
