Hi Theo

There are obviously lots of examples of producers, consumers etc in the 
ocean, but it is harder to find information on specific decomposers. One 
decomposer species that can be part of any food chain is the methane-
producing bacterium 'Methanosarcina barkeri' which is found in ocean 
sediments on the sea-bed where dead material eventually settles. This is a 
general decomposer so you can put it in any marine food-chain.
