Mycophycophyta refers to fungi that are involved in the unique symbiotic
relation between fungi and algae that creates lichens. Mycophycophyta are
neither protistan nor bacteria but rather members of Mycoda or Eumycetes,
true fungi. Without getting into a taxonomic morass and semantic wars I
suggest you look at books on Lichens. These unique "organisms" are
extremely interesting. A good starting point would be to read a Golden
Book on this subject.
