Subject: How to set up a proximity circuit using photodiodes

Hello there, i am doing a piece of coursework on Sensors and am wandering what 
type of sensor circuit i should do, i am thinking of doing a proximity sensor 
circuit using a photodiode (could i use the wheatstone bridge?). but am unsure 
of how to set this up. please could u give me some help.
