Ozone is not "in" the periodic table for the same reason diamond and graphite--both are forms of the element carbon--are not "in" the periodic table. Ozone is a particular molecular form ("allotrope") O3 of the element oxygen. The confusion comes from the fact that the oxygen allotrope O2 is also called "oxygen."
