This question has to do with a lab I am doing on tie-dying. In order to find out why fiber reactive dyes are different from those readily availible at stores, I am told that I need to know the difference between covalent bonding and absorption of pigments to the fabric. How do I know if a dye will bond or be absorbed to the fabric, or can I control it somehow, and which one is better for tie-dye results? I would really appreciated it if you could help me out- thank you very much!
