Please can you help? My third grade daughter has come up with a science project
on her own this year. I didn't want to discourage her, but I know enough to
know that she can't look for bacteria with a magnify glass. She thought the
dirt she saw through it was bacteria.

Here is her question: Do Bacteria go away when you bake water? (not boil but
bake). Her Hypothesis: Yes. I think the bacteria will go away because the heat
will burn the bacteria.

How can I help her test this? We can get a microscope from the school. Any
suggestions? Our alternative is to replicate a crystal project from a book, She
was so excited about thinking up the question, after playing with water and the
magnify glass, that I hate to discourage her from doing this.

Thank you for your help.

Sharon
