I understand that electric shock therapy can make people recall memories based on the portion of brain that is subjected to electric shock. I am given to understand that memories are formed by communication between neurons which is electro-chemical in nature. Under normal conditions , neurons that are active produce neurotransmitters and when a critical level is reached , they start communicating with other neurons. Under the influence of external application of electrical charges , I suppose the action potential is reached and that initiates communication - but how about the neurotransmitters (chemistry part).
