MadSci Network: Genetics |
Genetic counselors are generally found in hospitals or medical clinics. They are called counselors because it is usually their job to explain things regarding genetics to patients, whether it be explaining a defect/disorder or a possible genetic procedure ( also about genetic tests for diseases ). They will talk with the patients and answer any questions they might have. Some also perform the procedures, actually a lot of them do. They are like genetic doctor and counselor rolled in to one .
