Hi Sandra!  When you say nutrition, you have to understand that your 
organs get their nutrition by the flow of blood in your body.  If that 
were to become interrupted, the organ becomes ischemic (lacking oxygen).  
As that happens, waste products build up and damage the organ to the point 
where it dies.  This can be potentially devastating, as the kidneys act as 
filters for your body.  People who have nonfunctioning kidneys have to 
undergo a process called dialysis, which can take 4 to 6 hours!
