Hi Alison!

In science fair projects it is up to the student to figure out what
variables to test. Science involves wondering about something,
then asking questions, then developing an experiment. During
the experiment Nature will answer the questions.

So, what do you wonder about when making your own Hand Drawn
Holograms? (Better make some first, so they get you
started in wondering!)

Here's a question. How can you improve your home made hologram?
What kind of XXXXX is best? Where XXXX could be "needle" or
"plastic" or "light source" or "number of scratches" or all kinds
of things. Then the variable becomes the different types of
needles you used, or the different kind of light sources, etc.

Ask your own question about Hand Drawn Holograms, then figure
out an experiment which will answer your question.
