Hi Bea -

You have chosen an interesting creature to study!  Mudskippers are 
technically fish, however, they have behaviors that are unusual in the 
fish world.  There are over 30 species of mudskipper.  To my knowledge, 
there are no species of mudskipper in the New World (North America, 
Central America, South America).  These animals actually spend most of 
their time out of the water.  This requires that they have an anatomy & 
physiology that is quite different from typical fish.  Mudskippers are 
also predators and important components of the ecology in their 
environments which consist of tidal areas such as mangroves and estuaries.
