Basically, scar healing is based upon cellular division. healing is 
rather quick (a few days) and may involve during the proces a small 
amount of clotted blood, therefore leading to a pink or purple scar.
An other reason for having an "inesthetic" scar is that, due to genetics, 
some people are more prone than otehr to have cheloïd scares, i.e. an 
hypertrophic scar rather than a linear one. This can lead to nightmares 
after a cosmetic surgery operation (good result, but ugly scar).
