Subject: What is the root cause of racism?

About racism you always hear: people are different, skin color etc. But why are 
even those, considerations? What makes people even think that those reasons are 
reasons to disdain others? It is not just cultural because it had to start 
somewhere/sometime. I think it is genetic but I never hear that said. It is 
like you will save your own children before you would save others. 
If the root cause is understood perhaps we can really proceed to overcome it 
and not just talk about it.
