There are a couple of assumptions here ! Firstly, you have to have a medical condition caused by a deficiency in digesting food, which causes bloating and cramps. Secondly, you have to be able to guess which enzyme is responsible- bear in mind that there may be quite a number of possible enzymes responsible. thirdly, you have to be able to guess which is the likely mutation which causes the enzyme deficiency. But YES- genetic tests can identify particular enzyme defects or deficiencies, and what exactly is wrong with the enzyme, in terms of primary structure. cheers david
