Capsaicin, the main chemical present in hot peppers that produces the
burning sensation when eaten. This molecule bonds with chemical receptors
called vanilloid receptor subtype 1 (VR1)which in effect simulates a burning
sensation. The sensation is caused by positive charged cations being able to
pass into the cell membrane which in turn sends neuron signals to the brain
prducing a burning sensation. I would like to find out if there would be a
possible way to stop the capsaicin from bonding with the VR1 receptor.
