We had a science demonstration in school today. We hung a string from the ceiling and then tied a weight to it, we then tied an identical piece of string to the weight and let it hang. we pulled on the bottom string and the bottom string broke near it's top. we took the remaining piece of this string and retied it. Again we pulled it and this time the top string broke. I know it has to do with force, but I'm having trouble explaining why. Can you help?
Re: Why did the string break differently?
