Uh, well Willow, that question it not really easy to answer.  There are 
enough examples out there where science has been used for destructive 
puropses, and just as many where that same science has been used to better 
mankind.  In our defense, I would have to say that most scientists are 
looking to simply answer questions, and sometimes don't look to how their 
findings can be used.  It's really hard to determine all the possible 
future uses of any new technology, and you have to remember that anything 
can be twisted to so called "evil" uses.  One example of this would be 
nerve gasses.  Some of them were developed as a pesticide (an attempt to 
make life better) but unfortunately someone realized that if sprayed on 
people, it would make a great war weapon ("evil").  

So, like I said, all in all most scientists are working for a greater 
good.  Your question is definitely one that can be debated for a long time.
