Thanks for asking this question.

The "heads" side of a coin is often very different from its "tails" side and yet both are integral parts of the coin as a whole. Unless you are familiar with a the type of coin you're looking at, viewing one side will seldom tell you much about what the other side looks like.

The same is true of the hardware and the software that make up a computer system. A close look at its hardware provides very little in the way of a clue about what its software will be. Similarly, closely inspecting a piece of software source code will seldom tell you much about the hardware on which it runs. And yet hardware and software are both integral parts of every computer system. It is for this reason that hardware and software are often called two sides of the same coin,
