What you did was run an electrochemical reaction in which small amounts of copper salts were formed (possibly copper carbonate or copper hydroxide). Solid copper salts are often green. Copper tends to take on this color, called a "patina", on exposure to water; patina formation is hastened by electrical discharges.

The color of the Statue of Liberty is a result of this process.
