Anesthesiology is a very exciting speciality. You have to be a
good "technician" with manual skills (intubating, securing an iv line,
etc) as well as to be a human doctor (doc, i feel afraid of not awaking,
but i trust you).
I hope you will succeed in getting into medical school.
But being a D.O. will allow you to specialise in anesthesiology, at least
in the US. my best example will be Dr Ronald A. Mackenzie, D.O., who
served as President of the American Society of Anesthesiologists during
the year 2000.
Good luck, Mark, and welcome on board!
Feel free to e-mail me privately, if you wish
