In a science project i was performing,i tested the effects the ions potassium and calcium chlorides had upon paramecium caudatum. IN the end the calcium chloride remained with no different movement from the control of no ions above 10 -7 CaCl2. However, the KCl made the paramecia spin in circles counter clockwise. I was wondering if there is any literature you might recommend or if you can answer what the action potential of the cell had to do with its movement. I have not been able to find any literature or lists of what actions are taken by cells from the action potential. In other words i want to know what made the cell spin this way? What responses are or can be given from the cell depending on the type or longevity of an action potential? Thanks for any and all your help.
