Sunspots appear as dark blotches on the surface of the sun, yet the
temperatures everywhere in the sun should be great enough to sustain
incandescence, even in these "cooler" regions... why ( then ) do they appear
dark ? Is this a perceptual thing ?( = "relatively" dark ) This region of the
sun should be fairly transparent, no ? How can thse things possibly be dark ?
