Lately, a friend of mine claimed that there might be a good chance they will create a black hole at the CERN that will swallow up first the earth and the entire solar system afterwards. Well, my degree is in chemistry and anything having more that three dimension and energies higher that a few MeV is totally beyond me, but this idea seemed highly speculative, to say the least. I tried searching the web, but haven't found anything that is both simple to understand and scientifically correct (or as close to correct as one can get in high-energy physics). Thanks - a lot - for your answer! Kerstin
