Based on the outcome and the brief description given I will assume you are referring to vocal cord nodules. Throat is a very large and nonspecific region - more accurately divided into Pharynx, oropharynx, naso-oropharnx, nasopharnx etc. The vocal cords are critical to speech and singing. Professional singers have a problem with nodules. This is mostly due to overuse and subsequent inflamatory effects. Other nodules are cancerous. In any event (and I am sure that this individual has been seen by a specialist) they have to have a laryngoscopy done - these days we use a very neat instrument which is a fiberoptic scope. If there is suspicion of malignancy they biopsy or test the tissue and treat accordingly. I imagine that the singer will take a break, rest his or hers vocal cords, perhaps a course of steroids or other anti-inflamatories and then be re-evaluated.
