Yes Humans were only in their first stages of evolution at that time just
look at the amount of people that has arisen in the last 200 years and
before that in the Permian-Triassic 80% of all four legged animals were
extinct and the planet gained thousands of different species back again.
The human race populates as fast as any other species.
