Mark, When we are working up a semen sample in the laboratory we make a
glass slide smear of the semen sample for evaluating the morphology under
the microscope. We always make several extra slides to keep in storage in
case there is any question later about the evaluation. This allows us to
pull a microscope slide months, or even years later, to check the sample
again if needed. As long as our storage system is dry and uncontaminated,
the samples have never degraded in the 20 plus years that we have been
doing andrology here in Norfolk.
