Subject: why 8 yr old downs syndrome develop few strands white hair and white spot ?

my sister's 8 yr old daughter has downs syndrome and developed few strands of 
white hair on back of head and has few large areas of bald spots and also white 
spot under right eye above cheek and we wonder why is that and what causes it ? 
will she develop alot more white spots and more white hairs ? is it common for 
downs syndrome ? is there anything we can do to fix or prevent from more 
developing ?
