Subject: Is there an alternative to fossil fuel etc. that is still under research??

There have been rumors goin round school and I've asked all the science 
teachers I know of, but no one can answer it. It is said that there is a new 
research on this perfect fuel that will replace fossil fuel and is just as 
efficient as well as safe for the enviroment. This fuel is not coal, I already 
researched but didn't come up with anything that was enviromentally safe. Do 
you have a guess as to what it is??
