"GMT" stands for "Greenwich Mean Time," and is the time standard from which
other time zones are calculated. Sometimes it's called "Z" time ("Zulu time")
as in 14:25:37Z.

Greenwich is the town in England through which the zero meridian ("prime
meridian") of longitude is defined to pass.
