Assuming equal weight, and no air resistance. I already found some explanation about the factors involved in http://www.madsci.org/posts/archives/2002-02/1014052887.Ph.r.html but I wanted more specific information regarding the physic of the gliding, and the effect of pressure melting snow or ice. People on snowboard are usually gliding on one edge (flat is to unstable) but people on ski goes faster when their skis are gliding flat. I would assume that pressure is greater when gliding on the edge vs gliding flat and so produce more melting and faster gliding.
