Artificial light refers to light produced by human technologies, mainly electric
lamps. The main types of electric lights are incandescent, fluorescent, LEDs,
and high intensity discharge lamps, such as sodium vapor amd mercury vapor.

The term is misleading because artificial light is real light. A more accurate
term would be "artificial sunlight". Even better is "electric light." Artificial
light is a term often used in photography and to refer to the situation of
plants grown under electric lights rather than with sunlight.
