My son wanted to know if freezing and heating a jar would affect how long it would take to burn out a candle when placed over it. The jars are exactly the same size. We thought the frozen jar would cause the candle to burn faster because the air was colder and the molecules would be closer together. Instead when we heated the exact size jar and placed it over the candle it burned out twice as fast. Why?
