Subject: Are there lucrative zoology careers available?

  I have recently come to realize that I will not be happy unless I am working
in zoology. Many people in my life have been encouraging me to attend medical
school because I have the grades for acceptance and the ability to do so. But I
feel as though I would be selling out; my heart tells me that zoology is what
makes me happy. I graduate with an undergraduate degree in zoology (with an
minor in anthropology) in the next year and I think I am going work in the
field, most likely collecting data. I marvel at the thought considering I love
travel and photography and such work will enable to continue to do so (I have
traveled and practiced photography extensively for the past 8 years). 
   My problem:  I have lived a frugal life in a family that has no wealth and I
don't want that for myself or my family for ever. Are there well paying zoology
careers?
   Any suggestions are welcome... I love photography, travel and, mostly,
wildlife and animals.
