Mitosis is the process of dividing the DNA of cells. Mitosis is an important event in cell division. When multi-cellular organisms grow (like plants and animals), they divide their cells to increase the number of cells. This question is impossible to answer becuase there are so many factors which determine if an organism, plant or animal, is growing- and how fast that growth is occurring. If, for example, you take cells from a healthy young plant that is growing new shoots and roots- these cells can be growing much faster than cells from an animal. Also, it entirely depends on what tissue you take the animal and plant cells. For example, if you take skin cells they will divide much more rapidly than some other cells, such as neurons- that never divide. Hope this helps!
