Hi: I'm interested in propulsion systems for possible space colonization ships.
They would probably be very large, and from what I can see on madsci, D-3He
Fusion would be the most likely fusion engine.

My question is: To travel readily around the solar system, at will for up to a
year - how much D-3He would a craft with the mass of an ocean liner need to
carry? Could you have something like a nuclear submarine that fuels up once in
its life time, or would you need to carry tanks that need refueling every so often?
Thank you, Rick
