MadSci Network: Astronomy |
When you walk into one of those IMax theaters, where the screen covers the entire room except for the floor, you usually get to see some movie that would be called "Sights and sounds of the galaxies and beyond" for example (I just made that title up). The movie would then show pictures made by the Hubble space telescope, accompanied with Jonn Serrie music. But...There's no sound in space! So why do these *zzzzzzzhhh* *shhhhhhsssshshhshshshooooooooooo* *whhhhhhhhheoooeeeshhhh* *weeoowweeoowweeoowweeoowweeooww* sounds get associated with space?
